But what is steel cable inox actually?
Inox is a group of stainless (and not stainless) steel types. It is an alloy of mainly iron, chromium, nickel and carbon. To speak of stainless steel, it must contain a minimum of 10.5% chromium and a maximum of 1.2% carbon.
Inox comes from the French word inoxidable and is often called stainless steel in popular speech. In fact, stainless steel consists mostly of iron. But by adding chromium and carbon to this, the steel gets a self-repairing oxide layer (also called the passivation layer or the oxide skin). Inox protects the underlying metal and greatly improves corrosion resistance.
