Since 1996, Pieter and Annelies have been running their business. They started out young...
Pieter: I grew up in a hardware store. The trade always attracted me, but I started in construction. After working there for several years, I took the leap to set up my own business, initially a wholesale in DIY products, tape, rope, and tools. After getting my driver's license, I wanted to hit the road right away.
Annelies: I met Pieter because I did packing work for the wholesale, and so we saw each other regularly. What he called organized chaos, I found a mess. So, I helped him get the warehouse in better order. Meanwhile, we talked a lot and there was a huge click. After a few months, we started a relationship. We were 14 and 18 years old. I also took over part of the administration, so he could focus more on sales.
Pieter: I gained experience in my father's store, but also with customers. Many of these shopkeepers were older than 60. They taught me a lot about the products and gave me tips.
Annelies: I started with a job at a delicatessen. Tastings, remembering customer names, and if the customer left the store with a smile, my day was good. From 2000, I worked full time in the business.
Pieter: Then came the crisis, many customers retired and no new stores came along. We looked for future opportunities and I began to delve into the then young internet world. A friend built a website where retailers could log in with a code and place their orders.
Annelies: More and more businesses signed up, and consumers also inquired, who were often forwarded to the retailers. But this worked cumbersomely and we looked for ways to make it better.
Pieter: We did a test with a consumer website. There was still very little competition at the time, and looking for ways to become even more visible became a hobby. I was very enthusiastic and told this to friends, and some have been active in e-commerce for years now.
Annelies: The internet grew quickly, so we needed staff.
Pieter: Every Wednesday morning we take a moment to go through improvement points and ideas from our team and customers.
Annelies: A good review score is important to us. It reflects how satisfied our customers are. If something does go wrong, the customer is called and we look for the best solution.
Pieter: We keep looking for the best solutions. We receive many photos from customers. Here, we try to inspire others again. We give away a drill each month, which we raffle among the submitters of the photo contest. See here who won last month.

I am Johan and I manage the warehouse. All your orders are processed with passion and precision. Should a certain product not be in stock, you can expect a call from me, to possibly look for an alternative or to get information about the delivery time of the product you have ordered. If you order by 3 pm on a weekday, it will be with you the next working day. That is our aim. Additionally, it is my task to keep the stock up-to-date to serve you as best as possible.
